I believe that it is the role of an organization like the IEEE to have an
influence on governmental policy. It is necessary to have an unbiased technical opinion on such issues as the Power Grid. An organization like IEEE will represent the country as a whole without the financially guided opinions of the businesses and politicians who also play a role in policy decisions.
