IEEE
U.S. Engineers’ Median Salary
Exceeds $93,000
The median primary income of IEEE members in the United States now
exceeds $93,000 per year, according to the preliminary results of the IEEE-USA Salary and
Fringe Benefits Survey, 2001 Edition. The survey, which will be released in June,
has exceeded all response expectations, providing more conclusive
information than ever before.
This survey has
been conducted for more than 18 years and is one of the most widely
acclaimed surveys of its kind. The IEEE-USA Survey Committee conducted the survey entirely electronically this year,
e-mailing 80,000 questionnaires and receiving more than 9,700 in
return. This
larger response provides details that have not been reported in
previous survey reports.
The Survey Committee is aiming to conduct this survey annually in an
effort to make available the most current data for electrotechnologists’ salaries and benefits.
Today's Engineer will
publish a comprehensive summary of the 2001 Survey as soon the results are
available.
