Resources for the Member

By Abby Robinson

Each month, Today’s Engineer highlights five different programs, products and services from IEEE-USA and elsewhere around the IEEE,  designed to help the members with their careers and professional development. Whether you're a student trying to select a focus, if you're just starting your career, or if you're getting close to retirement, IEEE has a wealth of resources to help you at every stage of your professional life.

1.  New Official IEEE Facebook Page

IEEE recently expanded its social media presence with the creation of the IEEE official Facebook page. This joins many existing IEEE Facebook pages and groups, and is designed to serve as the hub of all IEEE social media activities on Facebook.

2.  IEEE Continuing Education Courses and Degree Programs

IEEE members worldwide have said they want more continuing education opportunities. And they expect IEEE, the world's largest technical professional society, to provide those opportunities. Through agreements with continuing education providers, The IEEE Continuing Education Providers Program (CEP) strives to meet the needs of its members by providing a value-added member benefit, as well as an additional marketing channel and revenue stream for its providers. Providers worldwide are offering continuing education opportunities to IEEE members who will receive a minimum 10 percent discount on courses towards degree programs, continuing education units (CEUs) and professional development hours (PDHs).

3. IEEE-USA Legislative Action Center

IEEE-USA’s Legislative Action Center website gives you access to detailed information on your members of Congress, pending legislation affecting you and your career, and help you do something about it.

4.  IEEE eLearning Library

The IEEE eLearning Library is a series of engaging and highly interactive online learning tutorials based on the best IEEE educational content from IEEE conferences around the world and unique materials developed specifically for inclusion in this eLearning Library. These tutorials have been developed by recognized experts in a wide range of engineering and research technologies.

5.  IEEE on Twitter

IEEE has an official Twitter account, where you can read the latest news, learn about new programs, products and services, and connect with other IEEE members.
