Engineers
Week (EWeek)
Celebrate
the profession during Engineers Week (EWeek),
20-26 February 2011. As always, a number
of high-profile events are planned for
the week in Washington, across the
country and around the world. EWeek 2011
has the Discover Engineering Family Day
festival, sponsored by IEEE-USA, on
Saturday, 19 February, at the National
Building Museum in Washington, D.C.

Innovation E-Book Series
This series of IEEE-USA E-Books on innovation provides the basics for gaining an understanding of what innovation involves, what it takes to be an innovator, and what it takes to develop a culture where innovation can thrive.

3. IEEE-USA Annual Meeting
The 2011 IEEE-USA Annual Meeting provides an unparalleled training opportunity for IEEE’s U.S. volunteers and members. Industry leaders will explore one of the most important engineering challenges facing the world: engineering automobiles and transportation systems to make better use of available energy resources and to implement innovative energy solutions. Attendees will be briefed on pressing social, economic and political issues surrounding transportation and energy, as well as training in how to take outreach programs and ideas home.

IEEE-USA Awards
Each year, IEEE-USA
recognizes excellence, outstanding
service and contributions to
professional activities. IEEE-USA Awards
are given to recognize professionalism,
technical achievement, and literary
contributions to public awareness and
understanding of the engineering
profession. Award recipients are
announced each year at a special Awards
Ceremony held in conjunction with the
IEEE-USA Annual Meeting. Nominate

Abby Vogel Robinson, Ph.D.,
is a communications officer in the Research News
and Publications office at the Georgia Institute
of Technology. In this position, she writes
about Georgia Tech research discoveries and
developments, and assists reporters in their
coverage of Georgia Tech research. Robinson also
serves as chair of the IEEE-USA Communications
Committee and as an editor for IEEE-USA
Today’s Engineer.
