Q |
Tell us a
little about yourself and your family,
Paul. |
|
A |
My wife, Leann (a
former IEEE-USA BOD member), and I have
been married for 13 years, and live in
the Green Lake area of Seattle. We have
two Bernese Mountain Dogs (Lucy and
Noodles). Leann and I met at the 1991
PACE Workshop in Philadelphia. |
|
Q |
What’s the best
thing about living in Seattle? |
|
A |
It's a pretty long
list. The arts, great restaurants, the
outdoors, a fascinating mix of people
and companies make it an interesting
place to live and work. Washington wine
country, mountains and beaches are near
by and easy to escape to. Great trails
to bike ride on. |
|
Q |
What did you
originally want to be when you "grew
up"? |
|
A |
An astronaut — not
having 20-20 vision ended that dream,
but brought me into engineering. |
|
Q |
What is your
idea of perfect happiness? |
|
A |
Being off at the
beach with Leann, friends and the dogs. |
|
Q |
What is your
greatest fear? |
|
A |
Being bored. |
|
Q |
Who is your
favorite hero of fiction? |
|
A |
When I was a kid, I
really loved the Tom Swift books on
science. And I'm still a Batman fan. |
|
Q |
Which
historical figure to you most identify
with, and why? |
|
A |
Thomas Jefferson.
I have the same passion for books and
wine, and an interest in trying new
things. I'm just not as accomplished as
he was. |
|
Q |
What is your
most distinctive characteristic? |
|
A |
Got to be the
diamond earring… |
|
Q |
Which words or
phrases do you most overuse? |
|
A |
“I'm sorry,
what did you say?” |
|
Q |
What is your
personal motto? |
|
A |
It's easier to beg
forgiveness than get permission. |
